Chopin's Tsunami

A hundred years ago,
A cargo ship left Bristol Port.
Heading for Tokyo.
Among the goods, a Grand Concert piano on its deck.
For a reason we'll never know
The ship sunk off the shore of Japan.
A team of scuba divers found that shipwreck.
A diver opened its cover keys.
Taken by surprise
He stood still.
A school of fish circled around his head.
He touched the keys,
All responded to its will.
His mind is now in the concert hall
"Teatro alla Scala" in Milan.
His fingers are on the run:
Chopin's Etude "On The Bombardment of Warsaw"
Opus 10, number 12.
Over Tokyo Bay a Tsunami state of High Alert
Was spread.
